The Legislative Assembly will hold a public hearing this Monday (30) in reference to World Autism Awareness Day, celebrated on April 2nd. The event will take place in the auditorium of the Technical Commissions Complex, starting at 14 pm, and will respond to a request from Deputy Renato Roseno (Psol).

In the request, the deputy states that this is a symbolic date to affirm the fight for the rights of people with autism. "It is fundamental that the Ceará Parliament uses this date to foster public debate and discuss public policies for the care of people affected by autism spectrum disorder," emphasizes Renato Roseno.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) involves difficulties in communication, behavior, and social interaction, as well as an attachment to routine and a repetitive pattern of activities.

In 2008, Brazil ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, giving it the status of a Constitutional Amendment. Autistic individuals were legally recognized as persons with disabilities with the approval of Law No. 12.764/2012, which establishes the National Policy for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
