Following assault, Secretary asks to leave Education Ministry.
After the attacks made, via Facebook, against the demonstrators who took to the streets of Maceió this Thursday (11), the Secretary of State for Education and Sport, Adriano Soares, intends to formalize this afternoon (12), in a meeting with Governor Teotonio Vilela Filho, his departure from the department. The meeting should take place at the Palácio República dos Palmares.
Alagoas247 - This morning, Soares posted on Facebook that the decision to leave the post had been communicated to the governor on Thursday night and that it was "irreversible." "I made the decision yesterday to leave the Alagoas Education Department. I was already tired of the numerous battles fought in the last two years. Changing education, confronting fiefdoms, shifting the focus to management, dealing with a historical lack of structure... All of this was wearing me down and was very costly personally. It even affected my family."
After posting a song on social media with vulgar lyrics directed at the protesters, Adriano Soares received a call from the governor asking him to reconsider his position within the department, which should result in his departure from his post as head of state education today. This information was confirmed by the department's Communications office.
This was not the first controversy involving the manager's name and social media. On another occasion, during a demonstration by education workers, Adriano Soares refused to meet with the workers in his office. While they were protesting in front of the secretariat building, Adriano Soares was posting criticisms of Sinteal (the teachers' union) on his Facebook profile.
Yesterday, he suggested that his followers on social media sing the song "Go f*** yourself" to the participants of the protest called by the Unified Workers' Central (CUT). Soares posted a video, in which the presenter Eliana appears singing, and also stated that the protesting workers are funded by the federal government.
"A song in homage to today's protesters, the gang (sic) backed by the Federal Government: UNE, CUT and MST. A song sung by Eliana, which could be sung at this very moment by all the drivers who are stuck in traffic, who don't even make it to work or back home. For all those who are participating in these demonstrations, receiving snacks, transportation and about fifty bucks to raise the red flags of this group," Soares posted as a description for the video.
Soares then deleted the post and apologized to his followers. He admitted that this was not the behavior of a public figure, even on a personal page.
