Amorim goes to minister to discuss Carnalita.

After a long period of silence regarding the debate on the implementation of the Carnalita Project in Sergipe and the refusal of the mayor of Capela, Ezequiel Leite, to sign the authorization for the use of the city's land for mineral exploration, Senator Eduardo Amorim (PSC) announced that he will meet with Minister Edson Lobão (Mines and Energy) to discuss Vale's megaproject; "I am from Sergipe, I was not born in Capela or Japaratuba, I was born in Itabaiana. Therefore, what must come first is the interest of all the people of Sergipe. I will invite Senator Valadares, who is the coordinator of our delegation, to lead the proceedings of this meeting. Regarding Capela and Japaratuba, what I expect is justice," he stated.

Sergipe 247 - Senator Eduardo Amorim (PSC) announced this Thursday (30) that he has scheduled a meeting with the Minister of Mines and Energy, Edson Lobão, to discuss the Carnalita Project, a Vale exploration project in Sergipe, with a planned investment of up to R$ 4 billion. The issue has generated much controversy because the mayor of Capela, Ezequiel Leite, linked to Amorim, refuses to sign the release of the use of the city's land for the exploration of carnalita. Faced with the impasse, Vale may even abandon the project, as was exclusively reported by Sergipe 247.

"I am from Sergipe, I wasn't born in Capela or Japaratuba, I was born in Itabaiana. Therefore, what must come first is the interest of all the people of Sergipe," said Amorim. "I will invite Senator Valadares, who is the coordinator of our delegation, to lead the work of this meeting," stressed the parliamentarian, highlighting that those most interested will also be invited. "Both Mayor Ezequiel Leite, of Capela, and Mayor Hélio Sobral, of Japaratuba, will be invited." Eduardo Amorim stated that he intends to mobilize the entire Sergipe federal delegation.

To justify his silence regarding the discussion, Amorim said that he does not intend to favor one municipality over another, but hopes that a fair decision will be made for everyone. "Regarding Capela and Japaratuba, what I hope for is justice. And it has to be done. Beyond that, our fight is for Sergipe," he stated.

All the caution shown by the PSC's pre-candidate for governor makes sense. Even as an ally of the mayor of Capela, Amorim did not defend Ezequiel Leite, to avoid the damage that the non-implementation of the project could generate for him throughout the State. Vale gave a maximum deadline, until Monday (3), for the government to resolve the crisis with the municipality of Capela. In this sense, a new proposal was presented to Ezequiel, for the proportional distribution of taxes, and he will present his final position by Monday as well.
