247 - Senator Eduardo Amorim (PSC-SE) met for breakfast with the president of the National Confederation of Municipalities (CNM), Paulo Ziulkoski. During the meeting, the "Municipal Agenda" was presented, outlining the organization's position on projects under consideration and some proposals suggested by the municipal movement.
According to Eduardo, the Senate needs to lead the projects that suggest the financial survival of the municipalities. The parliamentarian suggested that a Special Commission on the Federal Pact be created, just as it was created in the Chamber of Deputies. "The idea is to create a joint commission (with deputies and senators) to expedite the issues here in the Senate," he said.
“The Senate could initiate a more structured debate on the proposals of the municipalist movement. Otherwise, we'll just be spinning our wheels. If there isn't a solution, as I've already said, we'll have to hand the federal programs back to the government. Is that what we want?” asked Ziulkoski.
In a mutual agreement between the CNM (National Confederation of Municipalities) and parliamentarians, it was decided that the Confederation will create an agenda solely focused on "emergency actions" to be discussed immediately. A more concise agenda. From there, the idea is to create a joint committee (with deputies and senators) to expedite the issues in the Senate. The senators present at the meeting pointed out that these issues are more advanced in the Chamber of Deputies.

The meeting was preparatory for the 18th March to Brasília in Defense of Municipalities. A second meeting took place in the late afternoon with the president of the Senate, Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL), where they discussed the agendas in more detail.
