Amastha appoints council members, removes pre-candidates, and expands his base.

The changes in the Health, Environment and Urban Development, Security, Traffic and Transportation, and Housing departments, as well as the Cultural Foundation, involved the departure of pre-candidates who will be running for elected office in October and the arrival of new aides, including two city councilors, who broadened the base of parties supporting the administration of the mayor from the PP party.

Tocantins 247 – What was supposed to be a simple reshuffling of secretaries in the Palmas City Hall ended up becoming a political act, favored by various forces gravitating around the mayor of Palmas, Carlos Amastha (PP). The changes in the Health, Environment and Urban Development, Security, Traffic and Transportation, and Housing secretariats, as well as the Cultural Foundation, involved the departure of pre-candidates who will be running for elected office in October and the arrival of new aides, including two city councilors, who broadened the base of parties supporting the mayor's administration.

Mayor Carlos Amastha highlighted that he intended to combine the technical profile of the managers with the political compositions of the base and emphasized that the departure of the pre-candidates from the administration before the legal deadline, April 3rd, is to avoid any association of the municipal public machinery with their projects. "The use of public resources must be absolutely preserved. They are already convinced of participating in this process and understood, along with the mayor, that it was time to start doing politics and let people more concerned with administration occupy these positions," he stated.

The event was attended by leaders from various parties that make up the mayor's political base, including the PT, PCdoB, PSL, PP, and PPS. The metropolitan president of the PT, George Brito, participated in the event and declared his unconditional support for the mayor's administration.

Cheers. At the Health Department, Dr. Luiz Teixeira, formerly president of the Palmas Cultural Foundation, took over. Aware of the responsibility of leading an area often under public scrutiny, Luiz Teixeira requested the collaboration of the press. “This is a shared responsibility among all of us: communication, citizens, and administrators. Without this social balance, it's pointless; healthcare won't be able to evolve. Because, as a rule, the more you improve a health center, the more people will go there,” he stated.

Nicolau Esteves, who headed the Health Department under the PT's (Workers' Party) nomination, thanked the mayor and the department's team and will now dedicate himself to making his pre-candidacy for governor viable and to consolidating the Third Way political project.

Culture. For the presidency of the Cultural Foundation, the mayor appointed councilman Gerson da Mil Coisas (PSL). The councilman thanked the mayor for his trust, praised Luiz Teixeira's performance at the head of the institution, and said that goodwill is what will mark his work in the municipality's cultural area. "Knowledge is useful, but what is sorely lacking is the goodwill to make things work," he stated. In Gerson's place, alternate councilman Adão Índio (PSL) will assume his seat in the City Council.

Safety. To head the Secretariat of Security, Civil Defense and Traffic, Carlos Amastha appointed councilman Claudemir Portugal (PPS). The councilman praised the party's endorsement of the state administration and demonstrated that at the state level, with state deputy Eduardo do Dertins, the PPS could also get closer to the mayor's political group. "We understand that the PPS is ready to enter and collaborate a little more with the Amastha administration," he stated. Claudemir Portugal's seat in the City Council will be filled by alternate councilman Marreco Mototáxi (PPS).

Colonel José Ribamar, who was in charge of Security, is temporarily leaving his post to attend to personal matters. However, the mayor announced that he is expected to return to lead a monitoring and surveillance project in the capital.

Environment. Removed from the Health Department, the Workers' Party (PT) was reassigned to the Secretariat of Environment and Urban Development, with the appointment of architect Germana Pires Coriolano. Among the main actions at the head of the department, Germana highlighted the completion of the computerization process of services and the intensification of environmental policy. "Palmas needs to become a more humane city, and this depends on environmental development policy," she stated.

With the appointment of Germana Coriolano, councilman Valdemar Júnior (PSD) returns to the City Council and is expected to continue his pre-campaign for state representative. His return means that alternate councilman Hiram Gomes (PSDB) will leave his position.

Housing. In the Housing Department, the mayor appointed Flavilene Bueno Coelho, a civil servant from the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office and wife of councilman Valdemar Júnior, as deputy secretary.
