Amastha defends the legality of the agreement with Saneatins.

"The only thing that happened was a cooperation agreement between the city hall and Foz Saneatins, where they pass on the information they possess, and for which they paid, and the municipality also passes on information, such as georeferencing," stated the mayor. According to him, state representative Luana Ribeiro could have requested information about the agreement before taking legal action.

Tocantins 247 – The increase in the Urban Property Tax (IPTU) in Palmas is once again being discussed in the capital. Mayor Carlos Amastha (PP) stated to Tocantins 247 that state representative Luana Ribeiro (PR), who filed a lawsuit questioning the way the tax increase was implemented, doesn't know what she's talking about.

“I think it’s a shame that a public figure, in addition to being a congresswoman, would expose herself in this way in a lawsuit that she certainly doesn’t know anything about. Everything that was stated in this lawsuit is absolutely false, it doesn’t exist. The only thing that happened was a cooperation agreement between the city hall and Foz Saneatins, where they pass on the information they hold, and for which they paid, and the municipality also passes on information, such as georeferencing, for the purpose of registering properties they have, because of the service they provide,” said the mayor during the inauguration ceremony of the new state executive of the PT (Workers' Party).

The parliamentarian accused the Palmas City Hall of rigging the bidding process so that the Real Estate Valuation Commission (CVI) would be responsible for preparing the new General Valuation Plan for the capital, which served as the basis for the increase in property tax (IPTU). Amastha said she is absolutely certain of the legality and morality of the process.

"You will never find an act of this administration that is carried out with malice. I prioritize morality. I just think it's a shame that the congresswoman, before taking this action, didn't demand that her advisors show her how the agreement was made. I myself would have gone to the congresswoman's office to explain if I had been called," the mayor stated.
