São Paulo - Students at the University of São Paulo (USP) decided in a general assembly held to maintain the strike and occupation of the rectorate building. More than 1,3 students participated in the vote, which took place yesterday (6) between the buildings of the History and Geography courses, with 757 voting in favor of the strike and 562 against.
On Monday (4), the São Paulo court ordered the repossession of the rectorate building, occupied by students since October 1st – which could happen at any moment. The main reason for the occupation is to pressure the São Paulo government to implement direct elections for the selection of rector, vice-rector and unit director.
The student movement has scheduled a new assembly for today (7), at 18 pm, to define the course of the strike.
