Alice Portugal: 'Maia and Rosso don't represent me'

With the approval of the PCdoB party, federal deputy Alice Portugal (PCdoB-BA) annulled her vote in the second round of the election for president of the Chamber of Deputies, which had deputies Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ) and Rogério Rosso (PSD-DF) as candidates; in the first round, the PCdoB had launched its own candidate, deputy Orlando Silva (PCdoB-SP); "I do not feel represented by either Maia or Rosso, as they represent all the authoritarian circumstances that plague Brazil. With the understanding of my party, I am annulling this vote. We will continue the fight to guarantee the reversal of the coup and to guarantee democracy in Brazil. Out with Temer, Out with Cunha," she declared.

Bahia 247 - With the approval of the PCdoB, federal deputy Alice Portugal (PCdoB-BA) annulled her vote in the second round of the election for the presidency of the Chamber of Deputies, in the early hours of this Thursday (14), which had as candidates deputies Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ) and Rogério Rosso (PSD-DF). In the first round, the PCdoB had launched its own candidate, deputy Orlando Silva (PCdoB-SP).

"I don't feel represented by either Maia or Rosso, as they represent all the authoritarian circumstances plaguing Brazil. With the understanding of my party, I am casting a null vote. We will continue the fight to reverse the coup and guarantee democracy in Brazil. Out with Temer, out with Cunha," declared Alice.

Congressman Rodrigo Maia was elected president of the Chamber of Deputies with 285 votes. His term extends until February 2017.
