Alckmin talks about using the 4th dead volume of the Cantareira reservoir.

Governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSDB) revealed this Wednesday, the 11th, the existence of a fourth "dead volume" in the Cantareira System, with approximately 40 billion liters of water; part of this volume could be used for supply without the need for construction work; "At the Piracaia (SP) station, in the Cachoeira [reservoir], it was verified that, below the so-called zero level, there is a water reserve that could be used partly without engineering works and partly with engineering works. So, it would be a fourth technical reserve," he said; this Wednesday, the Cantareira system is operating at 6,4%, after rising 0,3 percentage points compared to the previous day's index.

SP 247 - Governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSDB) revealed this Wednesday, the 11th, the existence of a fourth dead volume in the Cantareira System, containing approximately 40 billion liters of water, which could be used for supply without the need for construction work. The government and the State Water and Sanitation Company (Sabesp) are conducting studies to determine if its consumption is viable.

Alckmin stated this Wednesday (11) that the fourth "dead volume" of the Cantareira system has about 40 billion liters of water and that a part of it could be used without the need for engineering works.

"At the Piracaia (SP) station, at the Cachoeira [reservoir], it was found that, below the so-called zero level, there is a water reserve that could be used partly without engineering works and partly with engineering works. So, it would be a fourth technical reserve," said Alckmin.

The governor noted, however, that water-saving measures such as offering bonuses, interconnecting systems, and using pressure-reducing valves have so far been successful in ensuring the water supply for Greater São Paulo. "The rationing system aims to save more water. If we can achieve this without having to turn off the tap, however, all the better."

On Wednesday, the Cantareira reservoir is operating at 6,4%, after rising 0,3 percentage points compared to the previous day's index.
