By João Luan de Oliveira, for 247 - During an official visit to the interior of the state this Saturday, the 2nd, in the region known as the "hunger branch" in southwestern São Paulo, Governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSDB) was booed during his speech by residents of the city of Itapeva, who were demanding the duplication of the SP 258, known as the "death road".
CCR does not want to carry out road widening works on this stretch of highway and has the support of ARTESP managers to not carry out the work requested by businessman Kiko Carli, who represents regional groups in favor of the widening project.
Alckmin also congratulated the mayor of Itapeva, Luiz Cavani, from the PSDB party, who was also booed amid chants demanding his resignation. The mayor was recently acquitted by the Regional Electoral Court (TRE) in an electoral challenge that sought to disqualify the PSDB ticket due to ineligibility for misappropriation of FUNDEB funds. This event reveals that the manipulation of school lunch programs is common practice, not only in the state government but also in municipalities governed by the PSDB.
Alckmin declined to comment on the reason for the booing and went on to Ribeirão Branco, where he was warmly received by Mayor Mauro Teixeira, of the PTB party, who is also facing impeachment proceedings before the City Council of his city for misappropriation of health funds.
The mayor declared himself an ally of Geraldo Alckmin and praised the governor without mincing words, echoing the praise from the mayor of Taquarivaí, Cecé Cardoso, also from the PSDB party. The mayor is suspected of influence peddling to appoint her successor to the board of the 16th Administrative Region of the State of São Paulo, an area known for its patronage jobs for PSDB cronies.
Alckmin also heard a resounding cry from the audience as he bid farewell to the region: "No duplication, no vote!"
