Alcides receives an invitation to join the PT (Workers' Party).

The former governor, who is leaving the PP party, received invitations from six parties (from DEM to PT) and says he will evaluate options with his political group; the proposal to join the party of former president Lula was made by state deputy Luis Cesar Bueno, president of the PT in Goiânia; Alcides says that to defeat Perillo, much dialogue and selflessness from opposition leaders are necessary to form a broad alliance; Bueno thinks the same, and has even defended the entry of DEM (a historical adversary of the PT) into the opposition alliance.

On the eve of the deadline for party affiliations, former governor Alcides Rodrigues is being courted by numerous political parties in Goiás. The founder of the Progressive Party (PP), he announced that he will leave the party, which, with the affiliation of Vice-Governor José Eliton (formerly of DEM), consolidated its support for the re-election of Governor Marconi Perillo (PSDB).

This week, Alcides received an invitation at his political office from state representative Luis Cesar Bueno, president of the PT (Workers' Party) in Goiânia, to join the party. "Dr. Alcides is an honorable man who led a serious and ethical government, and his work is remembered throughout Goiás as a viable alternative for the state government. It will be an honor to have his experience within the PT," he stated.

Alcides says he is flattered by the invitation. But he has received others and will decide his party affiliation in consultation with friends and collaborators. He emphasizes that he always received respectful treatment from the PT during his administration (2007-2010) and believes that all political forces in Goiás must be united to face Perillo in the next elections.

"We need to practice dialogue and the detachment of opposition leaders in order to build a consensus ticket and a government project focused on the interests of the population," he analyzes.

Bueno also advocates for a "super-coalition" of the opposition. He believes there is room for both the majority coalition and the proportional representation lists to accommodate all party projects. The PT member, who recently argued that the PT and DEM should overcome their differences for the sake of unity, emphasizes that each party and leader must make their share of sacrifices.

In addition to the PT, Alcides Rodrigues received invitations from the PDT of former minister Carlos Luppi, the DEM of federal deputy Ronaldo Caiado, the PSC of federal deputy Marcos Feliciano, the PRP of his former Secretary of Finance, Jorcelino Braga, and the PSB of Governor Eduardo Campos (PE), who personally called him to invite him to join the socialists.

While he hasn't yet decided whether he will run in the next elections, the former governor is certain of one thing: he wants to participate in the process that will bring about change in Goiás.
