The April 21st holiday, Tiradentes Day, will motivate a large increase in travel within Brazil, as well as greater circulation of money in the states. Alagoas alone is expected to attract 23,8 travelers and register an extra economic impact of R$ 53,1 million, according to projections made by the Ministry of Tourism.

For the survey, the Ministry of Tourism considered the dates of April 21 (Tiradentes Day, Tuesday), May 1 (Labor Day, Friday), June 4 (Corpus Christi, Thursday), September 7 (Independence Day of Brazil, Monday), October 12 (Our Lady of Aparecida Day, patron saint of Brazil, Monday), and November 2 (All Souls' Day, Monday).

The economic impact of the six national holidays in Alagoas will be R$ 355,7 million. The extended holidays – generated by the 2015 calendar – will motivate 159,6 trips to the state. The highlight is the October 12th holiday, which is expected to register the highest financial activity (R$ 65,7 million) and number of trips (29,5).

The Government of Alagoas has been working in various ways to increase the number of tourists and flights coming to the state. In the first quarter of this year alone, there was a 7% increase in the number of landings and takeoffs at Zumbi dos Palmares Airport, compared to the same period in 2014. In January, the increase was 16%.

The numbers prove a greater demand for the state and position it as a benchmark in the country. For the Secretary of Economic Development and Tourism of Alagoas, Jeanine Pires, in addition to the promotional process, it is necessary to work on the continuous improvement of infrastructure to receive tourists and to have a diverse range of itineraries to serve travelers in the best possible way.

Today (20), however, with the exception of the Judiciary and the State Legislature, which have declared a day off, all public offices - state and municipal - are functioning normally this Monday, the 20th, which precedes the Tiradentes holiday. Banks, shops and shopping malls are also operating on normal hours this Monday.

Starting Tuesday, April 21st, stores in the city center, public offices, and bank branches will suspend service to the public, resuming only on Wednesday, April 22nd. Bills due on the 21st can be paid without interest on the next business day.

The three largest shopping malls in the capital, located in the neighborhoods of Benedito Bentes, Mangabeiras, and Cruz das Almas, will operate on their normal schedule during the holiday.

Regarding bus service in the capital, SMTT reported that the fleet will operate at normal numbers this Monday, the 20th, but will be reduced on Tuesday, the 21st.
