Is there still life left for the Delta CPI?
The court's decision to uphold the injunction prohibiting the Assembly's investigation into city halls practically puts an end to the commission's central objective; the president of the CPI still hopes for a decision on the merits; for Túlio Isac, it makes no sense to continue without permission to investigate contracts with Delta.
Goiás 247_ The Court of Justice's decision to uphold the injunction preventing the Legislative Assembly's CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) from investigating the municipalities of Aparecida de Goiânia and Catalão practically buries the Commission created to counter the CPI in Congress that had Marconi Perillo as its main target.
The state deputies from the government's base have always had as their main objective the contracts between Delta and the municipalities governed by the PT and PMDB parties. In Catalão, Aparecida, Anápolis, and Goiânia, the company had generous contracts with the municipal executive branch.
The Assembly must now await the judgment on the merits, which is usually no different from the preliminary injunction. Since August of last year, the Assembly's CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) has been prevented from proceeding with the investigation into the municipalities' contracts with Delta.
Deputy Túlio Isac (PSDB), a member of the commission, has always said that without authorization to investigate the city halls, the CPI loses its reason for existing. According to the CPI's president, Deputy Helio de Sousa (DEM), the final decision on the merits has not yet been made. "Therefore, we continue to wait. Now the decision will be up to the committee, which will judge the merits of the action brought by the City Councils of the two cities," said Helio de Sousa.
Catalan
The mayor of Catalão, Jardel Sebba, has stated in interviews that he intends to cooperate with the CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry). The former president of the Assembly, a member of the PSDB party, claims that Delta won all the bids in Catalão and has a debt of almost R$ 3 million with the city hall.
Jardel ordered a technical audit of the administration and said that any irregularities detected will be sent to the Public Prosecutor's Office. The former mayor of Catalão, Adib Elias (PMDB).
Cachoeira
The racketeer Carlinhos Cachoeira has already said that if summoned, he is interested in going to the Delta CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) in the Assembly and telling everything he knows. Cachoeira was an ally of Cláudio Abreu, the director of Delta in the Midwest, who was also arrested by the Federal Police in Operation Monte Carlo.
