Agricultural sector in Minas Gerais has R$ 2,1 billion in investments.

Minas Agency - Credit allocated exclusively by Banco do Brasil (BB) for the development of agricultural and livestock activities in Minas Gerais during the 2013/2014 harvest is expected to reach R$ 12 billion, compared to R$ 10,9 billion in the previous period. In the first three months of the current harvest (July to September), investments in the state totaled R$ 2,1 billion. Additionally, in the previous harvest, Sicoob – Crediminas disbursed R$ 1,2 billion, according to the State Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa).

According to Diego Alves Peçanha, technical advisor at the Superintendency of Agricultural Policy and Economics (Spea), through 48,2 contracts with Banco do Brasil, agribusiness farmers invested a total of R$ 8,9 billion in the 2012/2013 harvest, a figure 34,5% higher than that recorded in the previous period.

"Financing activities for agricultural businesses, through Banco do Brasil, absorbed R$ 4,7 billion, an increase of 27,3% compared to the 2011/2012 harvest. In the case of investment applications, which totaled R$ 1,9 billion, the growth was 64,9%. And for marketing, resources reached R$ 1,4 billion, an increase of 20,4%."

For family farming, Banco do Brasil (BB) disbursed approximately R$ 1,9 billion, with R$ 971,9 million allocated to operating costs, a 16,7% increase compared to the previous harvest. Investments totaled R$ 931 million, a 14,4% increase. The total value of investments in family farming grew by 30,5%. Through Sicoob – Crediminas, R$ 584,2 million was invested in operating cost activities. Resources allocated to marketing totaled R$ 93,6 million.

ABC Program

In the 2012/2013 period, applications from the ABC Program (Low Carbon Agriculture), through Banco do Brasil, totaled R$524,5 million. The figure increased by around 60% compared to the previous harvest. The largest transfers went to producers in the Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba, totaling R$ 195,7 million, a figure 49% higher than that of the previous harvest. The Northwest region occupied second place, with transfers of R$ 98,3 million, and in third place was the North region, with investments of R$ 57,8 million. Producers in the South-Southwest, West and Central regions of Minas Gerais also made significant investments, the sum of which reached R$92,2 million.
