Agetop decides to bring forward highway reconstruction.

Goiás 247_ The president of the Goiana Agency for Transport and Public Works (Agetop), Jayme Rincón, announced, in a press conference this Monday morning, the duplication of important stretches of roads in Goiás and the acceleration of part of the works of group II of the Rodovida Reconstrução project.

Among the sections that will be duplicated this year, according to the president, are the GO-080 highway (section from Nerópolis to São Francisco); GO-020 (section from Goiânia to Bela Vista) and GO-070 (section from Inhumas to Itauçu). The section from Itauçu to Cidade de Goiás is already in the bidding phase.

Regarding the anticipation of the works of the second group of Road ReconstructionOf the 60 sections with works scheduled to begin in April of this year, 21 will have interventions starting in March. This early start represents work on 852,1 kilometers, out of a total of 2.178 kilometers planned for the second phase of the program.

Given the conditions the roads were in, due to the aging network, the lack of maintenance by the previous government, and the substantial change in the socioeconomic profile of the state, it was impossible to solve all these problems in one or two years of government," said Rincón.

"We rebuilt 2.081 km of roads in the first phase of the program, between 2011 and 2012. In this second phase, of the 2.178 km scheduled to begin in April, we brought forward 852,1 km – of the highways that had the most problems – to begin reconstruction in March, leaving about 1,7 kilometers for the third phase – which are the less complicated sections – in 2014," explained the president of Agetop.

He stated during an interview that the bidding process for the duplication of the road from Goiânia to Bela Vista has already been completed, and Agetop also has open bids and is issuing work orders for the duplication of the road from Inhumas to Itauçu.

"We should publish the plans for the duplication of the road from Itauçu to Itaberaí and from there to the city of Goiás at the beginning of March. The governor has already confirmed that he has secured funding, and we will also be working on the bidding process for the duplication from Nerópolis to São Francisco, which is the busiest highway in the state, and whose works we will begin this year. It is also important to emphasize that the section from Goiânia to Bela Vista will not just be a duplication; it will be like the one in Inhumas, illuminated and with a bike path, from there to Bela Vista. In all these duplication works, as well as in the entire second phase of the Rodovida Reconstruction project, we will work on two fronts, in both directions of the lanes, in order to save time and complete them as quickly as possible," Rincón explained.
