The national president of the PSDB party, Senator Aécio Neves (MG), will request information about the financial operations of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) with other countries; "We are officially requesting that BNDES provide transparency regarding the financing that this financial institution has given to other countries, especially Cuba and Angola, now labeled as secret transactions related to national security. Others are not," he said.

Aécio wants transparency in BNDES loans.

Minas247 Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG) said on Wednesday that the PSDB will officially request information about loans that the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) granted to governments of other countries, which are treated as confidential by the federal government. According to the senator, the bank's assets decreased by 38% between 2011 and 2013.

"We are officially requesting that BNDES [Brazilian Development Bank] ensure transparency in the financing that this financial institution has provided to other countries, especially Cuba and Angola, now labeled as secret transactions related to national security. Others are not," said the senator, who voted on Wednesday against forgiving a debt owed by Congo to Brazil.

Aécio said that, at a time when there is a public outcry for more transparency, nothing justifies classifying these financial operations as secret or confidential. "BNDES, which in recent years has suffered a 38% loss in assets, while private banks, during the same period, have seen gains and accumulated around 25% of their net worth, is the same bank that acts in a way that is neither transparent nor transparent," he criticized.

The senator emphasized that the information from BNDES (Brazilian Development Bank) regarding these operations, especially those conducted abroad under secrecy, is crucial for the Senate to analyze other financing arrangements.
