247 - Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG) is willing to participate in the demonstration scheduled for Sunday (12) which focuses on criticizing the government of President Dilma Rousseff. The PSDB member signaled to allies that he should be present at the event in Belo Horizonte alongside other members of the PSDB from Minas Gerais.

But PSDB leaders remain divided on Aécio's participation. Some believe the senator's presence is necessary for the party to establish itself as a representative of popular discontent. The senator has not yet made a final decision because, behind the scenes, he fears that the demonstrations will be poorly attended, which could link his image to an action with less force than the previous one. Furthermore, the PSDB member fears being accused of piggybacking on a movement that has no political affiliation, as its organizers claim.

PSDB leader, Senator Cássio Cunha Lima (PB), said that the party president has to be present because "politics isn't done away from the streets." "He acted correctly by not participating in the first event so as not to appear opportunistic. But people are demanding our presence. We can't miss this moment," he said.

According to Senator Álvaro Dias (PSDB-PR), the most sensible decision would be for Aécio not to participate in the events. "I think that we, as politicians, shouldn't go so that the movement remains spontaneous and non-partisan. Any involvement of political parties could seem opportunistic," he argued.
