Aécio proposes tripling the penalty for corruption of minors.

Minas247 - As he had previously mentioned during his appearance on the Ratinho Show in May, Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG) presented a bill this Wednesday proposing to triple the penalty for those who use children or adolescents to commit crimes. If approved by Congress, the proposal will classify the corruption of minors as a heinous crime.

Currently, penalties for corruption of minors range from 1 to 4 years of imprisonment, regardless of the severity of the crime committed. The proposed bill increases the penalty for the corrupter to up to 12 years. According to the proposal, the more serious the crime committed or admitted by the minor, the greater the penalty will be for the adult who accompanied or induced them to commit it.

With the corruption of minors classified as a heinous crime, the convicted adult will no longer be entitled to bail and will face greater difficulties in progressing to a semi-open prison regime. In other words, they will have to serve the majority of their sentence in a closed regime. Currently, a conviction for corruption of minors allows for only 1/6 of the sentence to be served in a closed regime.
