Aécio denies Barbosa for the Ministry of Justice.

The PSDB presidential candidate denies speculation that, if elected, he will invite former Supreme Court Chief Justice Joaquim Barbosa to be his Minister of Justice; the candidate says he is a friend of the retired minister and speaks of his "enormous contributions" to the country, but denies any political maneuvering; "In this campaign season, there is a lot of speculation. I am a friend of Minister Joaquim Barbosa, who is a great Brazilian, he rendered an extraordinary service to Brazilian democracy, obviously going against the interests of the PT. Brazil owes him a great deal. But I have not had any political conversations with Minister Joaquim Barbosa."

Bahia 247 - The PSDB presidential candidate, Aécio Neves, attempted to put an end to speculation that, if elected, he would invite former Supreme Court Justice Joaquim Barbosa to be his Minister of Justice. The politician claims to be a friend of the retired justice and speaks of his "enormous contributions" to the country, but denies any such arrangement.

"During this campaign season, there's a lot of speculation. I'm a friend of Minister Joaquim Barbosa, who is a great Brazilian and has rendered an extraordinary service to Brazilian democracy, obviously going against the interests of the PT (Workers' Party). Brazil owes him a great deal. But I haven't had any political conversations with Minister Joaquim Barbosa, partly due to the mutual respect that unites us. What's important today is that Joaquim Barbosa's sentiment against impunity, for justice, for decency in public life, is a sentiment that our candidacy embodies," said Aécio in a press conference after a rally in Itabuna, a strategic city in the interior of Bahia.

Aécio Neves returns to Bahia once again in an attempt to stake his claim in the region where the PT (Workers' Party) has had its biggest victories so far, in the two elections of former president Lula and in the election of President Dilma Rousseff in 2010. At an event attended by the mayor of Salvador, ACM Neto (DEM), the leading figure of the DEM party in the state, the presidential candidate from the PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) promised special attention to the people of the Northeast.

"We will treat tourism as perhaps the most profitable of our industries, because the investment is already there; nature has largely done the work. What we need is adequate infrastructure, promotion of this region both in other parts of Brazil and abroad, and we will support the private sector so that it can make investments that enhance tourism with quality hotels and convention centers. I will forge a great partnership with Governor Paulo Souto in Bahia, with other partners in the Northeast region, and with Mayor ACM Neto, our great ally in Salvador. Together, working hand in hand, we will build a time of greater development, whether in tourism, industry, or agribusiness, with a very special focus on small rural producers."
