Aécio stakes his claim in Campos' territory.

Pernambuco 247 - Senator and presidential candidate for PSDB, Aécio Neves (MG), arrives in Recife, this Wednesday (18), as the official pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic of the tucana party. Although formally his visit to the capital of Pernambuco has the purpose of receiving the title of Citizen of Recife, the political agenda makes it clear that Aécio's objective is to mark territory in the electoral stronghold of his opponent Eduardo Campos (PSB).

The visit of the PSDB candidate to Pernambuco takes place about a week after he canceled all his commitments in Recife to fulfill the agenda canceled due to the premature birth of Júlia and Bernardo, the senator's twin children with Letícia Weber. Upon arriving in the Pernambuco capital, Aécio will be received by party members and is expected to meet with the governor, João Lyra (PSB). Interviews and a lunch at the Boa Vista Market in downtown Recife with the local PSDB leadership are also planned.

In the late afternoon, the presidential candidate will also receive the title of Citizen of Recife at the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco (Alepe). During the evening, Aécio is expected to participate in a political meeting in Jaboatão dos Guararapes, in the Recife Metropolitan Region.

Among the unconfirmed expectations is the possibility of a meeting with gubernatorial candidate Paulo Câmara (PSB), supported by the PSDB party despite – but with the approval of the party leadership – the race for the Palácio do Planalto (Presidential Palace).
The presidential candidate's visit was scheduled for last Monday (9). In addition to the commitments that would be attended to last week, Aécio would also take the opportunity to decide the direction that the PSDB would take in Pernambuco.

In the state, there was a possibility that the PSDB would launch its own candidacy for the Government of Pernambuco, due to the PSB's own candidacy in Minas Gerais. However, with the cancellation of Aécio's visit, the Pernambuco PSDB preferred to maintain the understanding made between the PSB and PSDB at the beginning of the year, and continue with the socialists in the state scenario.
