Lawyer who authorized the sale of Geddel's building will head the billionaire FNDE.

Silvio Pinheiro has been appointed to head the National Fund for the Development of Education; the agency will have a budget of R$ 67 billion in 2017 and is responsible for implementing the ministry's basic education policies; Pinheiro is a long-time ally of the mayor of Salvador, ACM Neto (DEM), and in the Secretariat of Urbanism he was responsible for issuing the building permit for the "La Vue" building, in Ladeira da Barra, where former minister Geddel Vieira Lima owns an apartment.

Bahia 247 - Lawyer Sílvio Pinheiro was appointed on Wednesday (21) to head the FNDE (National Fund for the Development of Education), of the Ministry of Education. The body will have a budget of R$ 67 billion in 2017 and is responsible for executing the ministry's basic education policies, such as school transport programs, school meals, teaching materials and the construction of daycare centers.

Pinheiro is a long-time ally of the mayor of Salvador, ACM Neto (DEM), and in the Urban Planning Secretariat he was responsible for controversial measures such as the new Master Plan for Urban Development of Salvador, which will allow the construction of taller buildings on the coast of the capital of Bahia.

In that role, he was also responsible for issuing the building permit for the "La Vue" building on Ladeira da Barra. The building was at the center of a controversy with Iphan (National Institute of Artistic Heritage) that resulted in the dismissal of then-Minister Geddel Vieira Lima (PMDB).
