Lawyer assaulted by prison guard.

Alagoas247 - Lawyer Diego Mousinho, son of prosecutor Marcos Mousinho, reported that he was the victim of assault and attempted murder perpetrated by a prison officer inside the Cyridião Durval e Silva prison, in the early afternoon of this Friday (13). According to Diego's information, there was an argument between the two after the officer allegedly prevented the lawyer from seeing two clients. The superintendent of the prison system, Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Luna, said that an investigation will look into the officer's conduct. Those involved were taken to the Central Flagrant Unit.

Diego Mousinho reported that he went to that prison unit intending to speak with two inmates who are his clients, but that he was met with a refusal from the staff member.

“He told me that the agents were on strike and that he would only allow access to one of the clients. I spoke with management, who explained that the problem was low staffing levels and that they would guarantee my access. When I returned, he approached me and said that he would no longer assist me because he had gone to speak with the director. I informed him that this was my right and that I would report him to management. It was at this moment that he assaulted me, pulled out his weapon, and threatened me,” the lawyer accused.

According to him, the officer was identified as André Marcondes, and the argument was witnessed by other lawyers and staff, and recorded by security cameras installed in the prison. "He used foul language towards me, I responded verbally, he pulled out his weapon, and I was then kicked," he recounted.

“If he pulled out the gun, he wanted to kill me. That's why I came to the Central Police Station to report that I was the victim of attempted homicide,” he continued. The president of the Brazilian Bar Association, Alagoas Section (OAB/AL), Thiago Bomfim, went to the station to support the lawyer.

Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Luna stated that he learned of the incident through reports passed on by the management of the Cyridião Durval prison. He said he would still need to find out exactly what happened and, in parallel, would initiate an investigation to examine the conduct of the prison officer.
