Piauí Today - The Government of Piauí will begin another control action to avoid wasting public money. This Monday (21), Governor Wellington Dias signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Social Security, which will allow the cross-referencing of data from state public employees with the INSS database in Piauí, aiming to identify and stop irregular payments.

The agreement aims to specifically verify the illegal accumulation of public positions and public benefits, as well as benefits between the federal and state pension systems; the occurrence of unreported deaths; and non-compliance with current legislation.

“We will try to avoid any kind of duplication in the payment of benefits, verify deaths, with the aim of preventing future problems, as well as seeking reimbursement for what was unduly paid,” explained the Secretary of State for Administration and Social Security, Ricardo Pontes.

Currently, Piauí has approximately 98 public employees, with 43 active and 55 inactive, including retirees and pensioners. The cooperation agreement is valid for five years.

"All of this aims to provide greater transparency and speed for state employees when requesting any service from the INSS," declared Nei Ferraz, regional manager of the INSS in Piauí.

Also participating in the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement were the Secretary of State for Finance, Rafael Fonteles; the president of the Piauí Previdência Foundation, Marcos Steiner Mesquita; the Attorney General of the State, Plínio Klerton; and representatives from the State Secretariats of Planning and Government.
