ACM asks the Court of Justice for "speed" in judging Louos and PDDU.

"I am very confident that the vast majority of the court will rule in favor of allowing the city's growth to continue. It's important to remember that if we fail to overcome this impasse, there will be a wave of unemployment in Salvador at the end of the year. I feel the court's full commitment and concern for the city's development. We will seek a solution that can resolve this entire obstacle," said the mayor after a meeting with the president of the Court of Justice of Bahia (TJ-BA), Mário Alberto Hirs; the judgment on the validity of the laws should take place within 50 days.

Mayor ACM Neto (DEM) considered the meeting he had this Friday with the president of the Court of Justice of Bahia (TJ-BA), Mario Alberto Hirs, to be positive, in order to discuss the impasse regarding the Urban Development Master Plan (PDDU) and the Law on the Ordering of Land Use and Occupation (Louos).

The Democrat asked the head of the Judiciary for "speed" in the judgment on the merits, which should happen within 50 days.

"I have no doubt that with a thorough explanation to each of the judges and a joint awareness campaign involving the Public Prosecutor's Office, the City Hall, the Court of Justice, and the City Council, we will find a satisfactory solution that will allow the city to resume its normal course of economic development," said the mayor.

The ruling published today by the TJ-BA (Court of Justice of Bahia) gives the parties involved 30 days to present their arguments. Within this period, the rapporteur, Judge José Edivaldo Rotondano, will prepare his vote. Only then will the matter be voted on by the Court.

According to ACM Neto, the expectation is that the vote will be positive for the modulation presented by the City Hall and the Public Prosecutor's Office of Bahia (MP-BA), which foresees the maintenance of positive points from the PDDU and Louos texts.

I feel the court's full commitment and concern for the city's development. We will seek a solution that can resolve this entire obstacle."

According to the mayor, as soon as the decision from the Court of Justice of Bahia (TJ-BA) is released, the City Hall will resume dialogue with the goal of reorganizing it to send to the City Council.

"What the City Hall and the Public Prosecutor's Office propose is to bring about progress regarding urban planning and environmental protection, conducting a neighborhood impact study for the planned growth of the city. As soon as the court's decision is released, we will begin a new process of discussion of the PDDU (Urban Development Master Plan) and Louos (Land Use and Occupation Law). The City Hall will rigorously follow all steps, guaranteeing popular participation through all institutions that have contributions to make. The City Hall agreed with the Public Prosecutor's Office, understanding that the law was unconstitutional and that important points of the debate were suppressed, and what we are trying to do now is preserve points that are important to the merits of the matter."
