In addition to denying the slightest possibility of running for governor in 2014, Mayor ACM Neto (DEM) is also saying that he will not even get involved in the political maneuvering of the parties that oppose Governor Jaques Wagner.

But in practice it won't be like that. On the contrary. The mayor fueled speculation yesterday by meeting with the 20 minority deputies in the Legislative Assembly at the Thomé de Souza Palace.

Congressman Elmar Nascimento, from the PR party, tried to deny the talks about succeeding Wagner. But he couldn't. "He (ACM) thinks it's good for the parties to position themselves, for example, for João (Gualberto, former mayor of Mata de São João) to put himself forward (in the race)," said the Republican in an article in Tribuna da Bahia.

Elmar made the content of the conversation clear by giving examples of the names being considered by the PMDB, PSDB, and DEM parties. "It was mentioned that we also need to talk to the PV, PTN, and PPS."

The opposition has today put forward the names of the Vice President of Corporate Banking at Caixa Econômica Federal, Geddel Vieira Lima (PMDB); former governor and former senator César Borges (PR); and congressman Antônio Imbassahy and former mayor of Mata de São João, João Gualberto, both from PSDB. DEM mentions the name of former governor Paulo Souto, who dismisses the possibility.

As the 'favorite' of the team that will be led by 'coach' ACM Neto, Geddel is already making moves to gather allies around his candidacy.
