Mayor ACM Neto (DEM) made this Friday (1st) the traditional reading of the Executive's message to open the 17th Legislature of the Salvador City Council and highlighted the desire for a harmonious relationship with the councilors.

"The conviction that we will get along well stems from the following premise: everyone here wants what's good, wants the best for our city. And if our goals are common, I know we will reach consensus on the main issues on our agenda," said the Democrat.

One of the points highlighted by the mayor in the message was the tax reform that the administration needs to regain financial balance. He will send a "set of measures" to this effect to the House later this month.

"I have already instructed the Secretary of Finance, Mauro Ricardo, to come to this House to clarify all doubts. Nothing will be voted on hastily and without debate and in-depth knowledge of the matter by the council members of this city. This is the kind of relationship, based on dialogue and respect, that I wish to establish between the city hall and this honorable House. We will act with total transparency. I will not govern by amendments."

ACM Neto stated that the work in the first month of his administration was arduous due to the state of neglect he found in the city, but to change this situation, he counts on the support of the councilors, regardless of party affiliation, emphasizing that he will receive everyone, whether from the government or the opposition.

"My political training took place in the Chamber of Deputies, and in ten years of service, I learned to value and recognize that it is precisely through parliamentarians that we see the will of the people best represented."

According to the Democrat, Salvador is already seeing some progress in the first month of his administration, such as, according to him, the reorganization of parking areas on the waterfront, between Ladeira da Barra and Cristo, a measure also taken on Avenida Sete de Setembro and in the Comércio neighborhood.

The mayor also highlighted the resumption of drunk driving checkpoints, the collection of accumulated garbage from the streets, the expansion and restoration of the public lighting system on 78 avenues, streets and squares, as well as the launch of the Mobile Bolsa Família program, which will regularize and register new families to receive the benefit.

He also guaranteed that all commitments made during the election campaign will be fulfilled.
