C40
Before meeting with Pope Francis, Mayor ACM Neto was the only Brazilian representative at the C40 (Cities Climate Leadership Group) meeting, held this morning at the Vatican, which also included the participation of mayors from various world capitals. Salvador officially joined the list of capitals involved in the main global discussions on the effects of pollution on the planet's climate in May of this year.
Based in London (UK), C40 was created in 2005 (formerly C20) out of the concerns of cities worried about climate issues, seeking to chart new directions regarding sustainability and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 248 million tons by 2020. Today the group has the participation of 75 cities.
