The repercussions of JB's support for Edvaldo Nogueira

There is a coordinated effort by adversaries, former allies (and even some "friendly fire") against the PCdoB-PT-PMDB coalition in Aracaju, whose leading candidates are Edvaldo Nogueira (pre-candidate for mayor) and Eliane Aquino (who will be the vice-mayor candidate), supported by Governor Jackson Barreto; there is a movement, especially on websites, blogs, and social networks, to create a false idea that the alliance is not legitimate and lacks electoral weight; the insistence of certain "analysts" in discrediting the union reveals precisely the opposite; the ticket is strong, has consistency, and is a major thorn in their side.

Valter Lima, from Sergipe 247 - There is a coordinated effort, on the part of adversaries, former allies (and even a certain amount of "friendly fire"), against the PC do B-PT-PMDB coalition in Aracaju, whose leading candidates are Edvaldo Nogueira (pre-candidate for mayor) and Eliane Aquino (who will be the vice-mayor candidate), supported by Governor Jackson Barreto.

Since JB announced it last week, support for Edvaldo There is a movement, especially on websites, blogs, and social media, to create the false idea that the alliance is not legitimate and lacks electoral weight.

The insistence of certain "analysts" on downplaying the union reveals just the opposite. The ticket is strong, has consistency, and is a major thorn in their side.

Internal polls prove this: Edvaldo has been very well-regarded in surveys; he is the name with the most growth potential, given his low rejection rate, and he opens up a considerable lead over the other pre-candidates when presented to voters alongside Eliane Aquino, Marcelo Déda's widow.

In other words, although "analyses" attempt to negatively link him to the PT (Workers' Party), intending to associate him with a supposedly high rejection rate among national party figures, the alliance with the PT in Sergipe, through Eliane, does not cause the desired damage.

Regarding the support of Governor Jackson Barreto, who was courted until recently by all leaders (including Mayor João Alves Filho, via Robson Viana), there is now an attempt to discredit the support given to Edvaldo because of the issues surrounding the national disputes, even though JB has publicly and repeatedly positioned himself against the impeachment, the same position held by the former mayor.

Since none of this has worked satisfactorily, the latest fallacy against the PCdoB-PT-PMDB alliance is to try to create embarrassment by linking this year's electoral support to the 2018 election. This also makes no sense. Jackson and Edvaldo themselves spoke at a press conference last week about their intention to maintain the group's unity with a view to this year's election and future contests. The transparency of their speeches is quite different from the stance of other leaders and parties, who pretend to be adversaries, but whose agreements are already in place. In secret.

Although there has been some migration of other political parties, which were once aligned with JB, Edvaldo, and the PT, in favor of other candidates, the central core has remained independent for over a decade, achieving victories such as Déda's reelection as mayor and his subsequent victory in the race for state governor, Edvaldo's election in 2008, Déda's reelection in 2010, and Jackson's overwhelming victory in 2014. It must be this history that is bothering their current opponents so much.
