Second round: Caiado may take to the stage to support Dilma.

A staunch opponent of the Dilma Rousseff (PT) government, Senator-elect Ronaldo Caiado is expected to campaign in support of the president; this is because the defeated PT candidate Antônio Gomide stated that the PT in Goiás will only support Iris Rezende in the second round if the PMDB fully commits to Dilma's campaign; Caiado won the Senate race on Iris's ticket and has already announced that he will help Iris against Marconi Perillo (PSDB); the dilemma is set: will Caiado set aside his strong political convictions and support for Aécio Neves to be sympathetic to Dilma's project and collaborate with Iris?

Goiás247 - While in the first round federal deputy and now senator-elect Ronaldo Caiado (DEM) avoided the embarrassment of having to ask for votes for President Dilma Rousseff (PT), the second round is likely to present this embarrassment to the parliamentarian.

Defeated candidate Antônio Gomide stated that the PT will only support Iris Rezende in the second round against Marconi Perillo (PSDB) if the PMDB fully commits to the campaign in favor of President Dilma. "I will support whoever supports Dilma," Gomide emphasized.

Caiado has already said that he will work hard alongside Iris Rezende to help the former governor defeat Marconi for the first time.

In the first round, Iris's PMDB party boycotted Dilma Rousseff to retaliate against the PT in Goiás, which broke the alliance and preferred to launch Gomide's candidacy rather than support Iris. Members of Iris's campaign publicly stated that the PMDB was not asking for votes for Dilma.

Ronaldo Caiado, who supports candidate Aécio Neves (PSDB), ended up benefiting from this PMDB boycott and did not see his interests clash head-on with those of the PMDB. Once elected, Caiado will certainly not suffer electoral losses for being on the side of someone who supports Dilma, whom he so vehemently opposes.

However, this creates at least one curious and embarrassing situation for Caiado, who has always boasted of being firm in his political convictions.
