247 - Coach Tite, who led the Brazilian national team in the last two World Cups, filed a criminal complaint in court against sports commentator Neto. The coach's defense stated that Neto committed the crime of defamation on his program on TV Bandeirantes on December 9, 2022, shortly after Brazil's elimination by Croatia in the quarterfinals of the Qatar World Cup. To refer to the coach, Neto used terms such as "son of a bitch," "scoundrel," "shameless," "stupid," "idiot," "imbecile," and "bum." The lawsuit was filed last Wednesday at the Pinheiros Regional Forum in São Paulo.

According to the Globo SportThe coach's lawyers stated that "the seven expressions – some of them uttered repeatedly – form an unequivocal set of offenses, regardless of the context in which they were uttered. They have a highly pejorative character and serve no other purpose than to attack the honor of the plaintiff [Tite], offended in his dignity (respectability) and decorum."

The punishment can also be increased if the comments are disseminated on social media.
