UEFA creates 'football council' with Ancelotti and Zidane

UEFA has announced the creation of a "football council" with 20 big names in the sport, past and present, such as Carlo Ancelotti, Zinedine Zidane and José Mourinho.

(ANSA) - UEFA has announced the creation of a "football council" with 20 big names in the sport, past and present, such as Carlo Ancelotti, Zinedine Zidane and José Mourinho. Italians Paolo Maldini and Fabio Capello were also invited.   

The idea is for the group to help formulate proposals to develop football in all its spheres, and it will hold its first formal meeting on April 24th in Nyon, France.   

The council will be led by former Croatian player Milan Zvonimir Boban, currently the director of professional football at UEFA. Alongside him will be the head of refereeing, the Italian Roberto Rosetti.   

Other confirmed names include Dutch coach Ronaldo Koeman, Dane Michael Laudrup, Czech Petr Cech, Germans Jürgen Klinsmann, Rudi Völler and Philipp Lahm, Portuguese Luis Figo and England coach Gareth Southgate.
