São Paulo defeats Corinthians in a comeback victory and wins the Copinha (São Paulo Junior Cup).
Tricolor defeats rival 3-2 and wins its fifth title in the competition.
247 - São Paulo is the champion of the 2025 São Paulo Junior Football Cup (Copinha). In a thrilling match marked by a historic comeback, the Tricolor team beat Corinthians 3-2 this Saturday (25), at the Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu, and won the main under-20 competition in Brazil. The Majestoso derby not only crowned São Paulo as champion, but also celebrated the official reopening of the stadium, after a renovation costing over R$800 million carried out by the private sector, marked by controversies and delays. The information is from State St. Paul.
This is São Paulo's fifth Copinha title, their first since 2019, and with this, the club ties Fluminense and Internacional as the second most successful team in the competition, behind only Corinthians, who remain the most successful with 11 trophies. The victory, which came from a thrilling comeback, demonstrated the strength of the São Paulo U-20 team, even in the face of adversity during the match.
The match began with a big scare for São Paulo. In the 33rd minute of the first half, 16-year-old left-back Denner opened the scoring for Corinthians with a spectacular goal. The young player surprised the São Paulo defense by launching an attack, appearing inside the area and making a spectacular cut past Lucas Loss before pushing the ball into the back of the net.
Ten minutes later, Corinthians extended their lead with a goal from Gui Negão, who capitalized on a mistake by the São Paulo defense and, one-on-one with the goalkeeper, chipped the ball over him to make it 2-0. But São Paulo's reaction came in stoppage time of the first half. Paulinho, a substitute for Ryan Francisco (who was suspended and was the competition's top scorer), delivered a perfect corner kick to Andrade, who rose alone and headed the ball in to reduce the deficit.
In the second half, São Paulo continued to press and equalized in the 16th minute, again with a header. From another corner kick taken by Paulinho, Andrade rose higher than the Corinthians defense and scored the second goal for São Paulo. The turnaround happened just four minutes later, when Maik delivered a pinpoint cross to Paulinho, who headed the ball into the back of the net, putting São Paulo ahead.
