Manchester United representatives announce plans for a new 100-seat stadium.
The investment was estimated at two billion euros, approximately R$ 12,8 billion.
247 - Manchester United announced this Tuesday (11), in London, the project to demolish Old Trafford and build a new stadium with a capacity of up to 100 thousand people. The arena will be located next to the old facility and is planned to be delivered by 2031. The investment was estimated at two billion euros, approximately R$ 12,8 billion.
Built in 1910, Old Trafford has a capacity of 74 spectators and could reach 87 with a renovation. Jim Ratcliffe, who owns the rights to the stadium for United, said the club has begun “an incredibly exciting journey to deliver what will be the world’s largest football stadium, in the heart of a regenerated Old Trafford.”
“Our current stadium has served us brilliantly for the last 115 years, but it has fallen behind the best arenas in world sport. By building alongside the existing site, we will be able to preserve the essence of Trafford. We are creating a truly state-of-the-art stadium,” he said.
