Agency Brazil - Palmeiras crushed Santos on Saturday night (4) at Morumbi. Abel Ferreira's team showed no mercy to their opponent and imposed themselves from the start of the match to leave with the three points and a score of 3-1.

The game
From the opening whistle, Palmeiras took control of the match. The first good chance came early, in the 7th minute, with a powerful shot from outside the area by Raphael Veiga, forcing João Paulo to make a good save. But the Santos goalkeeper didn't stay on the field for long. He ended up feeling a twinge in his left thigh and was substituted in the 17th minute by Vladimir.
In the 21st minute, Verdão opened the scoring. A corner kick taken by Veiga was headed by Zé Rafael at the near post, but he couldn't reach it. Zanocelo tried to clear the danger, but the ball hit Gustavo Gómez and fell to Murilo, in the six-yard box, who tapped it into the back of the net for Santos, making it 1-0 at Morumbi.
Palmeiras had a good chance to extend their lead in the 32nd minute. Gabriel Menino delivered a beautiful pass to Endrick, who headed wide. In the 38th minute, Rony advanced down the right and crossed into the area. The Santos defense made a mistake, and the ball fell to Dudu, who was unmarked, but he missed an unbelievable goal, shooting wide. Three minutes later, Piquerez tried his luck from outside the area, and Vladimir pushed it out for a corner.
Palmeiras didn't rest until they scored their second goal. In the 50th minute, Gabriel Menino made a great play in midfield and passed to Endrick. The number 16 easily bypassed Eduardo Bauermann and crossed to Raphael Veiga. João Lucas anticipated the play to clear the ball and put it out for a corner. From the corner, Zanocelo almost scored an own goal, but Vladimir saved it. Endrick tried to take advantage of the rebound, but was stopped again by the Santos goalkeeper. On the third attempt, Rony unleashed a powerful shot and scored Palmeiras' second goal at Morumbi.
The second half began as the first ended. Just two minutes in, Endrick had a chance to extend the lead. He received a pass from Veiga and tried to dribble past Vladimir, but the goalkeeper came out very well and shut down the young striker.
Despite pressing early on, Palmeiras eventually slowed down. Abel Ferreira's team gave Santos space, but Santos didn't respond. When they had the opportunity, Palmeiras threatened. In the 22nd minute, after a good run down the right by Gabriel Menino, the ball fell to Rony, who shot across goal dangerously, but no one was there to finish.
Abel Ferreira decided to make two changes to increase the intensity again. He took off Gabriel Menino and Endrick, bringing on Jailson and Giovani. And it worked. In the 25th minute, Rony received a long pass inside the area, controlled it with his back to the defense, and passed to Giovani, who took his first touch of the ball, and it went straight into the Santos net: 3-0.
With the victory secured, Palmeiras simply waited for the final whistle, while Santos stumbled due to technical and emotional difficulties. Even so, Santos still managed to reduce the deficit in the 49th minute. A free kick from the left was headed in by Eduardo Bauermann for a consolation goal.
In the next round, Santos will host São Bento on Wednesday (8), at 9:35 pm, at Canindé. Palmeiras will face Inter de Limeira on Thursday (21), at 19:30 pm, at Allianz Parque.
