LONDON (Reuters) - Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paquetá, of West Ham United, has been cleared of four alleged violations of betting rules following an independent hearing by the Regulatory Commission, the Football Association (FA) said on Thursday.

Last year, the 27-year-old player was accused of deliberately trying to get a card during four Premier League games in 2022 and 2023.

The FA said it was alleged that Paquetá sought to influence the progress, conduct, or any other aspect or occurrence in those matches, deliberately trying to receive a card to manipulate the betting market for the benefit of others.

"Paquetá denied the accusations against him, and a Regulatory Commission determined that they were not proven after a hearing," the FA said in a statement.

The Brazilian was accused of two violations relating to alleged failures to fulfill his obligations to answer questions and provide information for the FA investigation.
