247 - "Lacoste, Novak Djokovic's main sponsor, said it plans to 'reassess' the events that led to the tennis star's deportation from Australia, which draws attention to the potential consequences for athletes who continue to go unvaccinated against Covid-19," it points out. Financial Times report, published in Valor.

“As soon as possible, we will contact Novak Djokovic to assess the events surrounding his presence in Australia,” Lacoste said yesterday. Controlled by the Swiss group MF Brands, Lacoste signed a multi-year agreement with Djokovic as a uniform sponsor in 2017. According to Forbes, the world number one earns US$30 million a year from sponsorship deals.

The reassessment comes after Djokovic, who refused to be vaccinated against Covid-19, said he was “extremely disappointed” that Australian courts had decided to uphold the government's decision to cancel his visa. This ruling means he will be unable to compete in this month's Australian Open tournament.
