Court freezes Vampeta's accounts.
The court is demanding payment of over R$ 500 in debts.
247 - Former Corinthians player and five-time World Cup winner with the Brazilian National Team, Vampeta had his bank accounts frozen by the São Paulo courts due to a debt with the Castanheiras School, located in Santana do Parnaíba, in Greater São Paulo.
According to MetropolisThe debt is around R$ 294, according to the court case that the school opened in 2015. The daughters of the former athlete, now 19 and 21 years old, attended the school in 2013.
Vampeta claims he did not sign any contract with the school and says the payments were his ex-wife's responsibility. However, this argument was not accepted by Judge Renata Bittencourt Couto da Costa: "parents are jointly obligated to fulfill certain family obligations," even without a signed contract. Like Vampeta, the girls' mother is also facing legal action.
According to the mother's defense, the tuition fees are in arrears because Vampeta's child support payments to his daughters have not been made. "The school fees are indeed owed and have not been paid precisely because Vampeta has not paid the child support owed to his daughters, the funds for which would be used to pay for the school. The lawsuit was filed against the mother, as she is responsible for the daughters, and against the father, as he is the financial provider. Even if that were not the case, as the judge correctly stated, the responsibility lies with both parents," said lawyer Eva Petrella.
The 5th Civil Court of Barueri, in Greater São Paulo, is demanding that the former player pay R$ 495 in child support arrears for his two daughters. The case began in 2018, when Vampeta failed to make three payments.
The young women filed a lawsuit demanding that the radio station where their father works deposit the former player's salary up to a limit of R$ 495.
