The ranking highlights Lamine Yamal in the lead and Estêvão, Rayan, and Pedrinho as Brazil's representatives in the top 20.
247 - The Football Observatory of the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) released on Wednesday (27) a survey that points to the 200 most promising under-20 players on the planet. The research, published by The GlobeThe study places 18-year-old Spaniard Lamine Yamal, a Barcelona striker, as the number one player in the ranking. The study also highlighted three Brazilians among the top 20 names on the list.
According to CIES, the analysis was based on what is called "experience capital," which considers playing time in official matches over the past 12 months, the level of competitions played, and the results achieved. In addition, the organization used performance indicators based on statistical data collected from the matches.
Brazilians featured in the top 20
The highest-ranked Brazilian is Estêvão, just 17 years old and currently playing for Chelsea, who occupies fourth position. He is behind only Yamal, Pau Cubarsí (Barcelona), and Warren Zaïre-Emery (Paris Saint-Germain). Forward Rayan, from Vasco, appears in 18th place, while Pedrinho, from Zenit, closes out the top 20 as the third Brazilian listed among the young players with the greatest potential.
Presence of athletes in Brazilian clubs
In addition to international standouts, the ranking of 200 names also includes athletes who play in Brazil. Botafogo is represented by Álvaro Montoro and Jordan Barrera; Santos by full-back Souza; and Grêmio by forward Alysson.
