Flamengo and the family of the fatal victim reach an agreement in the investigations into the fire at Ninho do Urubu.

They were the only family of the victims that had not yet received compensation.

247 Representatives of Flamengo and the parents of goalkeeper Christian Esmério reached an agreement as part of the investigation into the deaths of 10 teenagers from the club's youth teams in 2019, when the Ninho do Urubu, the team's training center, was hit by a fire. The amount of compensation and the terms of the agreement were not disclosed due to a confidentiality clause. This was the only family of the victims that had not yet been compensated.

Experts indicated that the fire started in an air conditioning unit and spread rapidly due to the containers' lining, which was highly flammable.

At least 16 athletes survived the tragedy. In total, eight people are being charged with aggravated arson resulting in death and serious bodily injury.

The next hearings are scheduled for March, when defense and prosecution witnesses, as well as victims of the fire, will be heard. The investigations continue until the accused are held accountable.
