Ferroviária and São Paulo draw in the quarterfinals of the Women's Brazilian Championship
Teams will decide who advances to the next phase at Morumbi Stadium.
247 - In a match broadcast on TV Brasil, Ferroviária and São Paulo drew 0-0 in the opening round of the quarter-finals of the Brasileirão Feminino.
The game, held at Fonte Luminosa, in Araraquara, São Paulo, this Saturday (9), marked the resumption of the competition after another 50 days without matches due to the Copa América, won by the Brazilian team last weekend.
With the result, a draw in the return match, next Saturday (16), at Morumbi, in São Paulo, will lead to the definition of the team that qualifies for the semifinals on penalties. Whoever wins in the 90 minutes advances.
Saturday's game showed two teams struggling to create real scoring opportunities. Goalkeepers Luciana, from Ferroviária, and Carlinha, from São Paulo, didn't make many significant saves. Micaelly was the one who caused the most trouble for Ferroviária, while São Paulo had an opportunity with Bia Menezes.
In the second half, things seemed to change early on, with a strong run from Isa, forcing Luciana to send a corner kick into a difficult save. However, throughout the rest of the second half, the same difficulty in converting attacking opportunities into goalscoring opportunities persisted. The goalless result proved adequate given the performance.
Before the semifinal spot is decided, both teams return to the field midweek for the Campeonato Paulista. On Tuesday (12), Ferroviária visits Corinthians, at 18 pm. The following day, São Paulo hosts Realidade Jovem, at the same time.
