(Reuters)- Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a two-year contract with Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia, the club announced on Friday.

Cristiano, 37, left Manchester United, the English league giant, last month after an explosive interview with a television channel in which the striker said he felt betrayed by the Old Trafford club and that he did not respect Dutch coach Erik ten Hag.

"I'm looking forward to experiencing a new football league in a different country. Al Nassr Club's vision is very inspiring," Ronaldo told the Saudi club.

He will arrive in Saudi Arabia with a vast collection of club honors following a brilliant spell at Spanish giants Real Madrid between 2009 and 2018, where he won two Spanish league titles, two Spanish Cups, four Champions League titles and three Club World Cups.

He holds the record for most goals scored for the club, 451, and has over 800 goals overall in official matches, including for his national team.

The Portuguese player won two Italian league titles and an Italian Cup trophy in three years at Juventus before returning to United, with whom he won three English league titles, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the Champions League and the Club World Cup in his first spell.

He played for Portugal in Qatar, where he became the first player to score in five World Cups, after converting a penalty in the first Group H match against Ghana. Portugal were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Morocco.

Ronaldo said that Qatar was probably his last World Cup, as he plans to retire at 40, with a move to Saudi Arabia that should mark the end of the career of one of the greatest current players alongside Lionel Messi.
