247 - The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) formalized, this Friday (20), its intention to bring the 2029 edition of the FIFA Club World Cup to the country.

The president of the CBFSamir Xaud, who is in the United States following the first edition of the new format of the competition, took advantage of a meeting with FIFA president Gianni Infantino to present the Brazilian proposal. According to Xaud, the conversation with the world football leader began with an institutional approach, but evolved into a concrete offer.

"It all started with an introductory conversation. I spoke about my goals as head of the CBF and said that we want to be closer to..." Fifa“I praised the event and the level of the Brazilian clubs, and finally, I offered the country's support to host the next World Cup,” the official reported.

According to the CBF president, the proposal was received enthusiastically by Infantino. "President Gianni Infantino was very happy, he said it's entirely possible. Now we're going to work to make it happen. It's going to be a great success," added Xaud.

The new FIFA Club World Cup replaces the old Club World Cup and adopts an expanded format, with 32 teams, in a quadrennial edition — similar to the World Cup for national teams. The inaugural competition is being held in the United States in 2025 and represents the organization's latest attempt to increase the visibility of clubs on the global stage.
