Brazil comes from behind to beat China and starts the Volleyball World Championship with a victory.

The team begins its tournament campaign with a 3-1 victory and will face the Czech Republic and Serbia as its next opponents.

247 - The Brazilian men's volleyball team began its journey in the World Championship this Sunday (14) with a victory against China. The information was released by FSPEven after losing the first set, Brazil prevailed and closed the match 3 sets to 1, with scores of 19/25, 25/23, 25/22 and 25/21.

Ranked third in the world, the team coached by Bernardinho confirmed their status as favorites against the Chinese team, currently in 26th position. The standout player of the match was outside hitter Arthur Bento, just 21 years old, who finished as the top scorer with 17 points.

Brazil's path in the competition

Following the group stage, the Brazilian team faces the Czech Republic this Monday (15) and Serbia on Wednesday (17). The first stage brings together 32 teams, divided into eight groups. Only the top two from each group advance to the knockout stage. The round of 16 begins on the 20th and the final is scheduled for September 28th, in Pasay City, Philippines.

History and rivals

Brazil has won three world titles (2002, 2006, and 2010), against Russia, Poland, and Cuba, respectively. The team also has three runner-up finishes—in 1982 against the then Soviet Union, and in 2014 and 2018 against Poland. In the 2022 edition, the Brazilians won the bronze medal after losing to Poland in the semi-final and defeating Slovenia in the third-place match.

Italy arrives as the current champion and second most successful team, with four titles. Russia, even though absent from this cycle, continues to lead the historical ranking, with six world titles.
