The case stems from a complaint filed by DIS, a Brazilian company that held 40% of Neymar's rights when he was at Santos. The company maintains that it lost its share of the transfer because the true value of the deal was underestimated.
In addition to Neymar, his parents, Neymar da Silva Santos and Nadine Gonçalves, will be judged, as well as the company NN Consultoria, and also Santos and Barcelona, represented by their presidents at the time: Odílio Rodrigues, from the São Paulo club, and Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell, from the Catalan club.
Neymar denied the accusations, but lost an appeal in the Spanish Superior Court of Justice in 2017, paving the way for the trial.
