247 - In an interview with TV 247, the former president of the Workers' Party (PT), José Genoino, expressed his repudiation of the Israelite Confederation of Brazil (CONIB) after the Zionist entity filed a request to open an investigation in the São Paulo courts. The accusations are based on a statement made by Genoino during the interview, in which he defended the boycott movement known as BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) against companies that support the Israeli government in the war against the Palestinian people.

Genoino stated categorically: "I repudiate the CONIB statement and affirm that I am not, and have never been, anti-Semitic, and I also repudiate any type of prejudice against the Jewish people. I defend the existence of two states, and we have an obligation to denounce, at every opportunity, the genocide perpetrated by the Israeli government against the Palestinian people."

The former president of the PT (Workers' Party) highlighted his tireless defense of the ceasefire, peace between peoples, and solidarity with the Palestinian people. Regarding the term "boycott," Genoino reaffirmed his position, clarifying: "I defend the boycott movement, BDS, which is a peaceful movement against the military occupation, which advocates for the return of refugees and is a movement defending human rights, internationally supported."

The Brazilian politician emphasized that BDS is not related to antisemitism: "The boycott has nothing to do with antisemitism and has very strong international support. It serves to stop the genocide against the Palestinian people."

Genoino defended his position on the boycott, arguing that it is a measure specifically aimed at companies linked to the genocidal actions of the State of Israel. He stressed that the movement seeks to contain the violence and protect the rights of the Palestinian people, based on the principles of self-determination of peoples and supported by UN resolutions.

In concluding his remarks, José Genoino reiterated his commitment to the pursuit of peace and respect among peoples, emphasizing the importance of highlighting the abuses suffered by the Palestinian people. Watch:
