247 - In an interview marked by strong criticism of the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, federal deputy Natália Bonavides (PT) stated that he "tore off his entire disguise as a good guy" by allying himself with forces that, according to her, are trying to destabilize democracy in Brazil. good night 247Bonavides pointed out that Tarcísio, by supporting the movement for amnesty for those involved in the 2022 coup attempts, revealed his true political position, distancing himself from the image of moderation he had tried to cultivate.

The congresswoman, who has been one of the most critical voices against the government of former president Jair Bolsonaro and his far-right allies, harshly criticized the lack of commitment of the governor of São Paulo to democratic principles. According to Bonavides, Tarcísio de Freitas's stance reveals itself as a true "betrayal of the nation," since he aligns himself with people and projects that seek to weaken institutions and disrespect the rule of law.

"By supporting an amnesty for those who committed crimes against democracy, Tarcísio not only tore off his 'good guy' disguise, but also allied himself with those who jeopardized the country's future," the congresswoman stated, referring to the current debate about the possible granting of amnesty to those responsible for the 2022 attacks. According to her, attempting to absolve the coup plotters would be a strategic error, as it could set dangerous precedents for future attempts at political destabilization.

The topic of amnesty was one of the central points of his speech. Bonavides stressed that the idea of "pacification" through amnesty is a fallacy that could generate devastating consequences for Brazil's political stability. "Impunity does not bring pacification," he declared, citing an important observation by Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Federal Court regarding the granting of amnesties that favor those responsible for anti-democratic crimes.

The congresswoman also warned about the broader context of the political maneuvering involving figures such as former President Jair Bolsonaro and members of his circle, who continue to work towards creating an environment conducive to impunity. Bonavides strongly criticized external influence, referring to the Bolsonaros' relationship with US President Donald Trump, and how these international connections are being used to pressure domestic decisions. "What we see is a movement to subordinate national sovereignty to the interests of other countries," Bonavides stated, highlighting Tarcísio's involvement in this process.

Another point addressed by Bonavides was the dynamics in the National Congress, which, according to her, is being hijacked by agendas of interest to the right wing. Although the Senate shows resistance to the idea of amnesty, the Chamber of Deputies has shown a more favorable climate for the discussion, which worries the congresswoman. She issued a warning: even though it is a topic widely rejected by the population, political pressure and the desire to gain political advantage in the next elections may be enough to guarantee the approval of an amnesty in favor of those involved in the 2022 events.

The parliamentarian also highlighted the importance of popular mobilization to pressure legislators to respect the Constitution and not allow history to repeat itself. "The engagement of society is fundamental for the preservation of democracy," she stressed. Bonavides also emphasized that the struggle should not be seen only in the institutional field, but should also be waged in the streets, through protests and public acts that demonstrate the strength of the democratic movement.

Regarding her own political trajectory, Bonavides stated that, despite some rumors about her candidacy for governor of Rio Grande do Norte, her priority remains strengthening her work in Congress. She made it clear that she does not intend to run for governor, since the Workers' Party (PT) already has a competitive candidate in the state, the Secretary of Finance, Cadu, who, according to her, is better prepared to face the challenges of state government.

Finally, Bonavides reaffirmed her position that democracy in Brazil is under constant threat. The congresswoman stated that the 2026 election will be crucial and that, more than ever, it is necessary to ensure that the rights of the Brazilian people are preserved against the attacks of the far-right. "If we do not enter the debate about amnesty and denounce its intentions, we risk losing our democracy," she concluded.

The Brazilian political context remains tense, with increasing polarization and the debate over amnesty gaining momentum. The actions of figures like Tarcísio de Freitas and the right-wing maneuvering are seen as a real risk to the continuation of democratic gains in the country, and popular mobilization will be decisive in defining the nation's future.
