247 - Federal Deputy Rui Falcão (PT-SP) addressed, in an interview with TV 247, the internal election for the presidency of the Workers' Party and the discussions about the party's future. Although his possible candidacy has been raised, the former president of the PT clarified that he is still evaluating the decision.

"I started receiving a lot of encouragement, suggestions, and requests to put my name forward. I'm evaluating it, I've already spoken with quite a few people, and I'll make a decision by the end of March or the beginning of April," he stated.

Falcão emphasized that, regardless of his candidacy, he will continue debating proposals for the party and the Lula government "from the bottom up." "I am not a candidate of the political machine, I am not a top-down candidate. If I run, I will make that decision at the most appropriate time, after talking to many people," he declared.

The scenario for the internal election in the PT (Workers' Party).

Currently, three names have already emerged as contenders for the party presidency: Romênio Pereira, Secretary of International Relations for the PT; Valter Pomar, member of the Perseu Abramo Foundation and professor at the Federal University of ABC; and Edinho Silva, former mayor of Araraquara-SP.

Commenting on the scenario, Falcão emphasized that his assessment of his opponents is not personal, but programmatic. "I disagree with some of the proposals that have been presented," he reinforced, specifically mentioning the theses of "depolarization" and "centrism" as misguided paths for the party.

The future of the PT and its relationship with its activists.

Falcão emphasized that his intervention in the PT's internal debate was not motivated by personal disputes, but rather by an attempt to raise the level of discussion. "Many people interpreted my assessment of the party and the government as an endorsement of a candidacy, but that is not true," he stated.

According to him, the PT's internal debate needs to focus on strategies to strengthen Lula's government and broaden the party's social base. The congressman also commented on the impact of his position among the party's activists.

"What I said brought some encouragement to the activists, and I started receiving suggestions to put my name forward. But this decision cannot be rushed," he considered.

Falcão concluded the interview by reinforcing his commitment to internal debate and the collective construction of proposals for the party. "I will continue debating and proposing, as I always have. This is a hallmark of my political activity," he concluded. Watch:
