247 - Businessman João Pacífico, who created the Gaia group and structured financial operations with a significant social impact, such as supporting the MST (Landless Workers' Movement), explained in an interview with journalist Leonardo Attuch, TV editor, why he donated his companies to an NGO, which will continue to manage his businesses. "The addiction to money is surreal. Everyone should question what is enough. Just as a minimum income is necessary, a maximum is too," he said. "Greed is not the only path," he pointed out.

A supporter of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the first round, Pacífico stated that he will dedicate himself to actions with a social return. "It is possible to use financial market instruments for actions with real impact," he said.

In his opinion, the next government will indeed have to tax the upper class and the financial system to include the poor in the budget. "There needs to be a ceiling on interest rates, an anti-usury law," he said. "I am in favor of taxing large fortunes – and it should be increasingly progressive," he added.

Pacífico also said that Jair Bolsonaro represents necropolitics and that Lula brought the best results in our history. When questioned about his peers' support for Bolsonaro, he explained, "Faria Lima is driven by greed and self-interest. The poor are not seen as people by many in Faria Lima."

Pacífico also said that the fight over tax reform should be tackled at the beginning of the government's term, when the balance of power is more favorable.
