Between Views Thursday (22), in TVTHumor as a political weapon and the elections were central themes of the conversation between the actor and journalist Juca Kfouri, host of the weekly program. Duvivier, who was once a supporter of Ciro Gomes (PDT), now defends the "strategic vote" for the candidate of the Brazil of Hope coalition for the Presidency of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). He "can't wait" to see the country free from the current president, Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

Last Tuesday (20), the actor and comedian published a column in Folha de S. PaulIn his article titled "Goodbye, tapeworm," he refers to the current president as a parasite. In his conversation with Juca Kfouri, he commented on the choice of terminology used to refer to Bolsonaro.

“He’s a parasite, he’s like a worm. He’s a bum, in that sense of the word, because he’s always lived off the worst of the State. He’s not a civil servant who passed a competitive exam. He’s always been, from the beginning, the scum of the Army itself. He was expelled because he tried to get rich illicitly. It was on his military record: 'excessive ambition, incompatible with the military profession'.”

In this sense, Gregório Duvivier also criticized the so-called "military family," privileged heirs of careers in the Armed Forces who have their lives guaranteed with hefty pensions paid for with everyone's taxes. "Then they say that artists are parasites because of the Rouanet Law. I don't know any artist who earns 15 a month just because they are the child of another artist."

Brazilian, despite everything

Also a writer and screenwriter, he worked with the channel Back door Gregório has distinguished himself in the national artistic scene. Since 2017, he has also anchored the humorous news program. Greg News, on the HBO subscription channel. Because of the atrocities committed by the current government, he states that, despite sometimes feeling ashamed, he considers himself a "die-hard Brazilian," one of those who get emotional when the National Anthem plays.

“That’s what makes me angry about Bolsonaro. We’re ashamed of Brazil, but at the same time I don’t know how to be anything else,” he said. “I wanted to be a citizen of the world. I like those people who say they feel at home anywhere. I’m not that person. I only feel at home speaking Portuguese, with people who understand the references, who hear the same things. I’m provincial, parochial, and I remain passionate about our country, despite everything.”
