"We are witnessing the fall of the 'Roman Empire' in real time," says Nicolelis.
Scientist analyzes crisis in the United States and warns of the impact of misinformation and social collapse.
247 - In interview with the program Eleven O'Clock RoundIn an interview with TV 247, neuroscientist Miguel Nicolelis stated that the United States is experiencing a process of decline comparable to the collapse of the Roman Empire. According to him, the country faces a structural crisis marked by the rise of misinformation, the decline of traditional politics, and the concentration of power in the hands of large technology corporations.
“It’s like watching the fall of the Roman Empire in real time,” he declared. “The contradictions of American capitalism within the country itself have reached such a level that it will cause unemployment, inflation, and social unrest.”
Nicolelis pointed to celebrity culture and the proliferation of misinformation as central elements of the American crisis. According to him, since the introduction of television in the 1950s, the United States has been exposed to a process of "imbecilization" of society. "The American people have been exposed to the greatest process of informational viral infection in history," he stated. "The internet put the final nail in the coffin, spreading all sorts of conspiracy theories."
The scientist harshly criticized Donald Trump and Elon Musk's actions in this scenario. He stated that Trump, besides being a "product of the entertainment industry," does not have complete control over his own government. "Trump has no idea what he's signing. He has to ask someone who hands him the papers. He loves the show because he's a showman."
Regarding Musk, Nicolelis highlighted that the billionaire takes advantage of informational chaos to expand his influence. "He bought Twitter not to make money, but to create a platform for transmitting informational viruses." The scientist also cited investigations by the American media indicating that Musk lied during his naturalization process. "That's a very serious crime in the United States," he emphasized.
Nicolelis also mentioned that Trump and his allies are adopting a strategy inspired by the so-called "shock doctrine," which consists of flooding the population with controversial and rapid decisions to hinder any organized reaction. "What is happening right now is an implosion. They are throwing one absurdity after another at the public to divert public opinion," he stated.
The neuroscientist concluded the interview by warning about the impact of this scenario on world geopolitics. According to him, the American collapse could generate global instability, affecting economies and international relations. "What we are seeing is a structural change in the world. And nobody knows exactly what the next day will bring." Watch:
